The Loving Gaze: People and Places
Date: 11th November 2010
Location: The Women’s Library, London
This symposium brought together artists and academics to consider ‘The Loving Gaze’.
See below for the abstract to Christopher’s talk:
Christopher will be exploring the personal relationship established by the loving gaze in two contrasting situations. The psychoanalytical understanding of parental love held and fostered by the gaze between parent and child paves the way for the grown human’s relationship to their world – illustrated here by Chris’s loving gaze at London and the red Routemaster bus. In a short talk and a five minute documentary film, Christopher will bring these together in an unusual recontextualising of a familiar psychoanalytic and cinematic theme.
